In Memoriam: Forrest Roan

December 3, 2015

We are saddened by the passing of TPEA’s friend and General Counsel Forrest Roan, whose service to TPEA spanned nearly four decades. Forrest had served as TPEA’s general counsel since 1978 and was an inspiration to all who knew him. His historical perspectives and counsel about TPEA and the governmental and political scenes will be sorely missed.

You can learn more about Forrest’s service to the community and his remarkable career in this obituary. A fuller picture of his remarkable influence and contributions to this state may be found in this tremendous tribute written by the Quorum Report’s Harvey Kronberg, though, of course, no words are sufficient to describe what Forrest meant to all who were blessed to know him. His family and friends gathered yesterday for a memorial service at Tarrytown United Methodist Church in Austin—a service planned to perfection by Forrest himself.

We extend our sympathies to the Roan family during this difficult time. We will miss you, Forrest.
